Personal Project
Inspired by the colorful handcrafts of my Mexican culture.

Behind all the vibrant colors and beautiful shapes there is always a story waiting to be told...

3D Model / UV Mapping / Texture / Rigging / Lighting
First Rendered in Dimension
Final Render in Maya with V-Ray
Compositing in Photoshop
My process
I started by modeling the 3D assets for the wooden cactus in MAYA, paying special attention to the details. I used Photoshop to hand-paint the textures as I was trying to replicate them from the real world references.

Then I modeled and textured the characters with the intension of them resembling figurines or collectables.

In the process of making the characters feel more real I rigged, skinned and posed them.

After the scene was done I went and searched for a rendering software that made the scene feel more real so I decided to try V-Ray on the project.
So I rebuilt the scene and focused on the Lighting, Framing and Composition ,
shooting for a more photorealistic look.
